La Noche del Cinco de Mayo: New Madrid

Foto by Anna Finke

The atmosphere was electrified last Thursday night. Even when we were packing up our gear to go to Pianos, the energy was palpable all around. Once there, our friends, neighbors, strangers, all who came out to "celebrate" the 5th of May, had a single purpose: to have a great fucking time. Spectacular crowd, they danced; they yelled; they bought us shots (gracias Javier!).

We shared the stage with three other awesome bands: Mama's Dirty Lil' Secret, Mahavatar and Pants Velour (click on their names and check them out). We also premiered a brand new song -Armada- written by Axel and Anthony. Buen trabajo, amigos!

My favorite part of the night was the crowd singing the break to La Araña all by themselves: Me asustas pero creo que me gustas. The line is in Spanish, obviously, but everyone Latino or not went for it. You can listen to La Araña right on this blog. Do it. You can also purchase it on iTunes. Do that too.

Gracias por una noche inolvidable, gente maravillosa. We'll be playing NYC very soon. Don't forget to check out La Araña, and take a stroll down the www.newmadridmusic.com promenade. We love you all.

Ciao,
Erik Barragan
